I. Introduction
Guizhou Minzu University (GZMU) was founded on May 17th, 1951 under the jurisdiction of the People’s Government of Guizhou Province. As one of the first minorities-oriented universities in China, GZMU is a key provincial higher education institute sponsored jointly by the People’s Government of Guizhou Province and the State Commission for Nationalities. It is also one of the designated universities by Ministry Of Education to accept overseas students with Chinese Government Scholarship.
The university is located in Huaxi District of Guiyang City, a scenic spot with pleasant weather and green mountains and bright waters renowned as “Pearl of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau”. The campus of Huaxi and University Town cover an area of 145,510,000㎡. There is a collection of 1.7million printed publications, 1.3 million e-books.
At present the number of the full-time students reaches over 19,000, GZMU has well-structured and well-developed staff. There are more than 1,200 faculty and staff members on the payroll.
Through the practice and development over 70 years, the university has developed coordinately into a comprehensive higher education institute which involves 23 colleges: College of Politics and Economics Management, College of Law, College of Ethnology and History, College of Sociology, College of Marxism, College of National Culture and Cognitive Science, College of Literature, College of Foreign Languages, College of Media, College of Data Science and Information Engineering, College of Mechatronic Engineering, College of Eco-Environmental Engineering, College of Material Science and Engineering, College of Architecture and Engineering, College of Tourism and Steward, College of Music and Dance, College of Fine Arts, College Of Physical Education, College of International Education, ASEAN College of Humanities, College of Ethnic-Minority Medicine, College of Chemical Engineering, College of Prep Education. The university has attached great attention to international education and academic exchange. At present, there are nearly 300 students on the enrollment from countries of Russia, South Korea, Mongolia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and some African countries. The university has cooperated with universities in the United States, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, United Kingdom, France, Holland, South Korea, Malaysia as well as in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. International cooperation projects include student exchange, academic exchange, teachers’ training and research cooperation projects.
With 70 years of construction and development, Guizhou Minzu University has become a cradle for minority talents, a tie of minority culture heritage, a research centre of minority talents, a cultivation base for national unity, and a think tank for the development of minority areas.
Office of International Exchange and Cooperation of GZMU is responsible for the enrollment of international students, and College of International Education of GZMU is in charge of teaching and administration for international students. The university offers degree programs, including bachelor, master and doctor’s programs. It also provides non-degree programs, such as exchange programs, general scholar programs, language training on a long-term or short-term basis. Such courses as calligraphy, Chinese painting, Chinese Kongfu help students to learn about Chinese culture and history. Through their study, international students can also enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and the folk customs of minority groups in Guizhou. The university also provides Chinese preparatory courses which strengthen students’ Chinese level and help them pass Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK).

Candidates can apply for the Guizhou Provincial Government Scholarships through “Study in Guizhou” .
3. President Scholarships of Guizhou Minzu University
GZMU offers scholarships to international students who apply for degree programs. Applicants can apply GZMU scholarship through GZMU international student system: https://gzmu.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx. President scholarships will be rated, adjusted or canceled according to students’ performance, obedience and perseverance during their study.

Main courses: higher mathematics, management, public relations, microeconomics, macroeconomics, principles of statistics, basic accounting, etc.
b) Tourism management
Main courses: introduction of tourism, managerial principles, western economics, consumer behavior theory, psychology of leisure travel, tourism economics, HRM in the tourism and hospitality industry, the anthropology of tourism, etc.
c) Chinese language and literature
Main courses: introduction to linguistics, introduction to literature, ancient literature, modern and contemporary literature, contemporary Chinese language, ancient Chinese, foreign literature, etc.
4. Other Programmes
a)Chinese language programs: offering long-term (6 months to 12 months) or short-term ( 1 month to 6 months) Chinese language and culture courses (with physical examination).
b)Chinese ethnic minority culture programs (3 month to 12 months, with HSK4 rank and physical examination): offering ethnic minority culture courses plus culture experiences, especially the native ethnic minority groups in Guizhou.
c)Visiting student program ( 4 weeks – 18 weeks, with HSK4 rank and physical examination)
VI. Procedures of Application
1. Submit Application
Chinese Government Scholarship: register on the website of (www.campuschina.org), post personal documents to the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation then email the filling form and other documents to gzmuadmission@sina.com.
Other students: register and apply on the GZMU international student system (https://gzmu.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx ) and email the filling form and other documents to gzmuadmission@sina.com.
2. Application Time
a)Chinese Government Scholarship: due date: 15th, April,2022;
b)Non Chinese Government Scholarship: March to July, 2022;
c)Students can apply Scholarship of Guizhou Minzu University after enrolling in the university.
3. Qualification Examination
Office of International Exchange and Cooperation will examine the applicant’s application form and other documents after receiving them, and will inform the applicant the result whether she/he can be accepted in about two to four weeks.
4. Issuing Letter of Acceptance
After reviewing the qualification, Office of International Exchange and Cooperation will issue a letter of acceptance for international students and the visa application form (form of JW202) to the applicant.
5. Obtaining Visa
The applicant should go to the Chinese Embassies and consulates to apply for visa with her/his passport, photos, the letter of acceptance issued by GZMU, the JW202 form and physical examination certificate.
The applicant can apply for Visa X1 with the help of College of International Education after him/her enters China with other visa.
6. Enrollment
Register at College of International Education following the date of “Admission Notice”. After arrival, student needs go to the local Public Security Bureau Exit-Entry Administration for the relevant procedures within 24 hours.
