On September 25, the 2021 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week Forum for Universities in Guizhou and ASEAN Member States Education Officials in China was held in GZMU. Under the theme of China-ASEAN Higher Education Exchange and Cooperation, principals and heads of Office of International Exchange and Cooperation from 12 universities in Guizhou and more than 10 ASEAN Member States Education Officials in China gathered to express their opinions on the new future of China-ASEAN higher education cooperation.

"Relying on the platform, GZMU actively recruits international students from Cambodia, the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries. Since 2016, we has recruited nearly 400 students from Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and other countries, cultivating international students at different levels including bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees." Said Wang Lin, the president of GZMU. GZMU began to enroll international students in 2013 and became one of the Chinese Institutions Admitting International Students Under Chinese Government Scholarship Programs in 2014. ASEAN College of Humanities was established in 2018, which is the only college in Guizhou to train talents for ASEAN exchange and development.

Chu Guangrong, Secretary of the Party CoMMITTEE of Guizhou Minzu University, said that this year marked the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of dialogue relationship between China and ASEAN, the thematic year of China-ASEAN cooperation on sustainable development , and it also was the first year for China's 14th Five-Year Plan to open up to the outside world at a high level and explore new prospects for win-win cooperation. GZMU would earnestly learn from the advanced experience and practices of the participating parties. Taking strengthening the development of ASEAN College of Humanities as the starting point, GZMU would actively expand the educational cooperation with ASEAN countries, and make new contributions for serving the high-quality development of the whole province.
